Space Debris is my attempt at writing a modernised Crystal Quest style game. It features very similar game play to the original Crystal Quest, with larger sprites, better sound, and 256-colour graphics.
What do I need to run it?
Space Debris will run on any Macintosh, 68K or PowerPC, with a 256 colour 640x480 screen. Space Debris will set your monitor to 256 colours automatically when you run it.
So how do I play?
The general objective is to gather up all the crystals while avoiding the nasty enemies. When all the crystals have been collected, a doorway opens at the bottom of the screen and you can proceed to the next level.
Your spaceship is controlled using the mouse, both to steer and to fire your gun. You can fire a smartbomb with the Command key, although you only have a limited number of those so use them sparingly. (Additional ones can be collected occasionally).
The game can be paused at any time by pressing the Caps Lock key. In the unlikely event that you want to abort the current game, simply press 'Q'.
Troubleshooting
• Space Debris doesn't run at full speed on my Macintosh/the animation is jerky!
- You need a faster Mac model. Sorry. Space Debris should manage full speed on 68040/PPC macs without trouble.
